“Why do I want to be a writer?”
Ask yourself that.
In a world where we’re pumping out more content per day than all of human history did for thousands of years, why do YOU want to add to the noise?
There’s a couple BAD reasons to start writing online.
Because you want to make money
Because you want to get famous
Because you want the undying respect of millions
Those are bad reasons, and before you tell me “Tom, I would never start writing for those reasons!”
Let me know whether you’d still be motivated to write if you didn’t make thousands of dollars doing it.
Sure, it’s fine to desire money.
It’s also fine to want to make an impact, too.
But these things shouldn’t be your only desires.
If you could care less about the art of writing and the psychological benefits it could give you and only want boatloads of money, then you need to quit before you get started.
Writing isn’t your thing.
Go trade cryptocurrencies or something.
We don’t need you.

…..
You still here?
Good. That means you love writing for writing’s sake.
It means you don’t JUST want money or to make an impact.
You’re here because you want to grow creatively and personally.
You want your ideas to be challenged by smart people on the internet.
Congratulations, you’ve just taken the red pill.
Writing is by far the single greatest thing you can do for your personal development. Fuck a Tony Robbins seminar.
You’ve punched your ticket to the big game. Take your seat at the table.
What To Expect From This Newsletter
I started the 150 Days To Blogging Mastery newsletter because I wanted to share all my biggest blogging lessons before I kick the bucket on Medium at the end of this year.
I’ll be publishing new blogging lessons every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday on Medium, LinkedIn, Substack, and Twitter.
I’ve broken the 150 lessons into three 50-lesson buckets:
Lessons for beginners
Lessons for intermediates
Lessons for pros
The first 50 lessons will be for beginners. We start today on February 28, and we end this first section on June 22.
The first 16 lessons will be about how to generate novel writing ideas. That’ll take up the first 5 weeks of lessons. I can’t fucking wait, to be honest.
Then we’ll get into how to develop a writing habit, common mistakes beginners make, and mindset shifts that’ll keep you going in the early game (very important).
Why should you follow along?
Well, I’ve built audiences of 10,000+ on five different platforms (soon to be 6 when I pass 10K on Twitter).
I know what I’m talking about, and I know for a fact this newsletter can help any blogger out there who wants to take their game to the next level.
Subscribe to this newsletter here on Substack to never miss a beat.
"Fuck a Tony Robbins seminar." 🤣
Loved the way you said everything here. I'm definitely in the right room. Writing gives meaning to my life. And it's the best gift I have given to myself.
Excited to learn. Thanks!
